Bird Egg Identification HELP! (very urgent)?
I live in Tallahassee, FL and have a special birding class tomorrow and reports are due. I'm bringing in a nest and that has been abandoned for more than two months. Found egg in hole. White with small sploches of light brown on it. A little small then 2 cm tall and 1 and 1/2 cm wide.
Please answer in next 5 min. Thanks!
If it was in a hole in a tree than it belongs to a cavity nester...some wren, or House Sparrow perhaps. Sorry, but it is against the law to have this egg in your possession (abandoned or not) if it belongs to a wild native bird. House Sparrows are not native, so if this is what it is, you can keep it.
Having wild bird eggs is illegal in the USA. You should leave it where it was and let nature be wild.
well charles if it was abandoned its not against the law and hon its probably a sparrow
Sparrow egg?
