My bird is laying eggs?

My bird is laying eggs?
i have a parakeet and shes always at the bottom of her cage scratching and making a nest with the towel paper lining. shes layed eggs before and we didnt' really know what to do with them so we throught them out. (theres no way they could be fertilized, shes the only bird) she seemed kinda depressed after that. do you think shes laying eggs again?? what should i do with them?? any advice??
Since she is at the bottom of the cage trying to make a nest, I would say she's getting ready to lay eggs. It sounds like you may have a potential chronic egg laying parakeet on your hands. I've had this problem with several of my females. They never mated and laid eggs anyway. Let her lay the eggs. As for what to do with them, you should let her lay on them. Taking the eggs away can encourage the budgie to lay even more eggs. Keep the eggs in the cage for a few weeks, because that is how long it takes a budgie to incubate eggs. You want her to lose interest in the eggs. You can also place fake eggs in the cage if the budgie's eggs start to smell. Make sure she's getting enough calcium and a well-balanced diet. This will reduce the likelihood of her becoming egg-bound, where the egg gets stuck and can't come out. Also, the vet told me to reduce the amount of light the budgie gets, because if they get too much light, her breeding hormones will go into overdrive. Put your budgie to bed and cover it's cage eariler than you would. Remove any type of nest or nesting materials. You could also try moving around the toys and perches in her cage. Sometimes a new housing situation will discourage the budgie from laying eggs. If none of this works, and your budgie continues laying eggs, you will need to see the vet for treatment options.
Owned parakeets for 15 years
well its the paring season bird are staring to lay eggs, my Canaries diamond pidgin's and all the others are laying eggs in there nests and soon they will hatch but with just one bird just leave the eggs and let her sit on the nest when summer ends she will eventually quit sitting on the eggs. or after a while she might just give up because they wont hatch and start over next year, if you want to have little parakeet's then put another female and a male with it, reason, when you have 1 male and 1 female they shall pair but the male wont leave the female alone and the female will have to scare the male Always all the time and leaves the nest all the time so the eggs wont stay warm and will not or nearly make it, if you have 2female and 1 male, the male will get a pair with 1 female and get eggs so when they start breeding the male will be bushy with the other female so the breeding female can stay on the nest and sometimes the male will sit on it to take over for like 5 minutes for a break so the female can eat and drink then gets back to the nest and the male will be amused with the other female again until they hatch and then he'll have to play father.

this information about the egg hatching wont be what you asked or could be incorrect because i don't flock parakeet.
but many birds need to be flocked like that.
I dont know:)
