Do only roosters have spurs?, and at what age are they visible?
i have a chick that is 3 weeks old, and today i was looking at its feet, and i noticed that it had these small bumps, one on each foot, just above the back toe, and i was wondering, if that meant he was a male, and that those were early signs of spurs growing in.

please tell me is is not, because he is my favorite chick, and i really do not want to have to give him away{but i mean do not lie to me}
thank you
unfortunately they all have that little bump on their leg. It wont show what it is until they are much older. i have a 4-6 week old rooster and i still don't see its spurs
unfortunately i'm pretty sure that only roosters have spurs. i know what you mean that he's your favorite and you don't want to give him away. i have a chick that is my favorite and i think he's a rooster.
that's all i know. sorry.
Only roosters have spurs and you should see the difference as they grow. Also it may help as some breeds the hens comb will be a washed out red and the cockerels will be red.
make it grow a peanut and make it bite it
