Muscovey duck has laid two eggs this morning and is not sitting on them?
Hi there, we have a trio of Muscovies, 1 drake and two ducks. All around 18 months old. This is the ducks first clutch of eggs. She laid one yesterday in the nest box and one today and has just saunter off, leaving them. But she does periodically check them through the day. She doesn't appear to be broody - will she sit on them once she has laid more? should I leave mother nature to take its course or should I take the eggs and try and incubate them. We have the heat lights and I can soon rig up a box? Any adivce would be appreciated.
take them to the house and eat them, they are good.
she is just practising, like a chicken, when they are fertile she will sit on them.
They will not start to brood the eggs till they have a full clutch which could be up to 12 eggs but they will sit and move them daily.
If both ducks are laying in the same nest then you could possibly double your egg count.

Birds don't start to REALLY incubate till they have two or three eggs and that's fine so long as they don't get cold(Below 20 or so degrees Celsius) then the hen not duck will sit on them for most of the day
